2. Applicants must abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and local government as well as the regulations of SWUFE.

3. Applicants’ education background should meet one of the conditions below:

(1) Nation-recognized postgraduates (applying for a doctoral degree) who will graduate in the current year must obtain a nation-recognized corresponding diploma before enrolling in the year of admission, otherwise, the admission qualification will be invalid.

(2) Applicants have had a nation-recognized Master’s degree (applying for a doctoral degree).

(3) Applicants have had a Master’s or doctoral degree.

4. Age Limit

Applying for a doctoral degree: 18 to 45 years old.

5. Requirements of Language Proficiency

English-taught Program

A. Applicants whose native language is English, or can provide proof of studying in a 2-year or above degree program in which the teaching language is English, do not need to provide a language certificate.

B. Applicants whose native language is not English are required to provide a score report of an English language test (IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 90 and above) or pass the test organized by College of International Education, SWUFE.

1. You are highly recommended submitting applications from Sep to Nov for Spring Intake, and from Feb to Apr for Autumn Intake.

PhD. students can choose one research track from the following three: Economics, Industry Economics and Finance. The length of program is usually 3 years for those who already hold a master degree from an accredited university. The maximum years to graduate are 6 years.
In the first year, students must take 9 compulsory courses and pass the PhD. Qualify Exam[ PhD. If the applicant has not obtained the degree yet, then should provide an original official letter that states this student will obtain the degree before August 25th, 2025. This letter should be issued by the student’s current school.

Submit two recommendation letters signed by associate professors or professors or people with relevant academic titles in related academic fields.
*7. Guarantee of Financial Support
Your personal sponsor should be able to provide full financial support for your educational and living expenses for the entire length of study at SWUFE. Ask your personal sponsor to complete the appropriate sections of the form Guarantee of Financial Support, and provide a scanned copy of the passport or ID card of the sponsor. 8. Applicants who are in China currently should also provide the copy of the page of his/her current visa or resident permit.

*9. Non-Criminal Record
Applicants shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application. If applicants could not get the record from the authority, then shall sign and upload the Commitment Letter of Non-Criminal Record instead. You can download a template or sample from here.
*10. Physical Examination Form(only valid for 6 months)
The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid. Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months. You can download a template or sample from here.

A minimum of 800 words for doctoral program applicants.
12. Other optional documents that could present applicants’ academic and comprehensive ability, for example, award certificate, published paper, etc.

Tips: For applicants who are in China: If you are an employee, you still need to provide employment separation certificate and your current residence permit. If you are a student, you need to provide transfer certificate, leaving certificate, certificate of attendance rate issued by previous school and your current residence permit.
